A Research Community
We are a network of scholars and practitioners engaged in documenting, analyzing, and addressing local manifestations of climate change in the Horn of Africa.
While a handful of dedicated naturalists and activists in Somalia, Somaliland, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Kenya have been reporting on the impacts of environmental change at the ground level, the results have not been assembled and compared across the region. Nor have these results been incorporated systematically into global discussions of mitigation strategies. Our goal is to put local African experts in dialogue with international scientists working on environmental issues in multiple disciplines. Our collective research agenda, which integrates indigenous knowledge with regional and international expertise, aims to promote joint research projects and stimulate fresh thinking on the climate crisis, its impacts, and possible solutions.
